SEC unveils plan for international accounting
The Securities and Exchange Commission plans to seek public comment on a “road map” that could lead to the use of international financial reporting standards by U.S. issuers beginning in 2014. The proposed plan would be carried out over several years; the agency would decide in 2011 whether adoption of such standards benefits investors. The comment period will be open for 60 days once the proposal appears in the Federal Register. For more details, visit sec.gov/news/press/2008/2008-184.htm.
