Michael Toporek was named as chief investment officer of the newly created group. He is a managing partner and founder of New York-based Brookstone Partners, which specializes in investing in middle-market companies.
Brookstone Partners Asset Management will offer managed accounts and several asset allocation programs.
These include a fixed-income program and a risk-controlled equity program that seeks to match an annualized rise of up to 30% in the Standard and Poor’s 500 stock index, while limiting the downside to a potential loss targeted at 15%, the firm said in a statement.
The firm will also offer an alternative-asset program that includes private equity, venture capital, real estate, hedge funds and other alternative investments in an allocation of 5% to 15% of assets.
