Barclays snags former Merrill Lynch wealth management exec

October 23, 2009 9:18 am ET

Mitch Cox, the former head of global solutions in Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc.’s wealth management group, who left the firm several months ago, has joined Barclays Wealth as its top investment official.

He will serve as the global chief investment officer for Barclays’ wealth management business and will replace Kevin Lecocq, according to a report in Citywire.

Mr. Lecocq, who has been with Barclays for the last three years, left “to pursue other business opportunities,” according to a statement from Barclays quoted in the report.

When Mr. Cox left Merrill in July, he was replaced by Chris Dupuy, the former head of distribution for the Americas in the firm’s wealth management group.
