10 states with the weakest elder-abuse protections
By the year 2030, one in five adults in the U.S. will be 65 or over, and older individuals are often vulnerable targets for elder financial abuse. According to a recent report by Wallet Hub, here are the states with the weakest elder protections and highest abuse rates. The data is based on prevalence of abuse, resources available and whether the state has protective laws. Each of these are based on a 100-point scale, with 100 being the best protection.
