InvestmentNews has just launched our first-ever independent adviser technology study, which aims to provide advisers with a way to benchmark their firms' technology investments and usages against similar and top-performing firms.
To participate in the study – which should take 20-30 minutes to complete – please visit the InvestmentNews Technology Study questionnaire here. By completing the survey, advisers will receive a complimentary copy of the study, which is slated to be released in early 2013. Advisers who participate in the study will also benefit from webcasts and workshops that will be explore the results of the study and provide guidance for getting more out of their technology investments.
The study is the latest offering from InvestmentNews Research, which has expanded to include a Succession Planning study in 2012, in addition to the InvestmentNews/Moss Admas Financial Performance Study and the InvestmentNews/Moss Adams Compensation & Staffing Study. In 2011, InvestmentNews conducted a study of RIA Technology: The new technology study has been broadened to include advisers affiliated with independent broker-dealers and hybrid advisers, in addition to registered investment advisory firms.
The goal of the new study is to explore how advisory firms are investing in technology and implementing strategies to align their technology investments with firm objectives. Specifically, the study will provide advisers with benchmarks for evaluating their firms against industry wide – and firm-type – efficiency ratios. These measures will allow firms to determine:
• If they are effectively using their firms' technology platform to improve efficiency, profitability and the overall client experience
• How much more, or less, they should be investing in technology to achieve growth goals, based on the composition of larger and top-performing advisory firms
• Which product types, and actual products, are most frequently used by advisers to drive efficiency and profitability
The InvestmentNews study will also marry the underlying data with case studies of successful firms, as well as digital tools that will allow advisers to create their own custom benchmarking snapshots.
