The Bank of New York Mellon Corp. has hired William Johnston, 55, as head of private-banking solutions for BNY Mellon Wealth Management.

He is responsible for leading the firm’s private and escrow bankers, coordinating the actions of mortgage banking officers in the field and working with regional presidents and partners to develop private-banking growth strategies.

Previously, Mr. Johnston was a market executive at Capital One Bank in New York, with a focus on middle-market and midcap corporate commercial banking.

Partners Wealth Management Inc. of Naperville, Ill., has hired Rick Bindler, 54, as director of retirement services.

He is responsible for providing clients with retirement and investment consulting services.

Previously, Mr. Bindler was a senior consultant with Mercer in Chicago, with a focus on small and midsize organizations.

Glassman Wealth Services of McLean, Va., has hired Nathan Sonnenberg, 45, as chief investment officer, responsible for leading the firm’s research, due diligence and portfolio construction efforts.

He also will serve as co-chairman of the company’s in-vestment policy committee.

Previously, Mr. Sonnenberg was a portfolio manager and director of asset management for Abbot Downing of Minneapolis.

J.W. Cole Financial Inc. of Tampa, Fla., has hired Jason Card, 39, as vice president of adviser solutions, responsible for using marketing to build the firm’s individual practices and coordinating firmwide marketing efforts to support partner financial advisers.

Previously, he was vice president of sales and national sales manager at Transamerica Financial Advisors Inc. in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Convergent Wealth Advisors of New York has hired Charles Winn, 46, as managing director of strategic relationships.

He is based in New York and Los Angeles, and is responsible for ex-panding relationships with clients and overseeing the firm’s nat- ional business development ef-forts.

Previously, Mr. Winn was a vice president at The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in New York.

Fiduciary Trust Co. International of New York has hired Viraj Patel, 32, as director of asset allocation, responsible for leading the company’s work on global capital market return and risk expectations across asset classes.

He also will work on strategic modeling and market-based tactical positioning for client portfolios.

Previously, Mr. Patel was a portfolio strategist for clients with multimanager exposures at Northern Trust Corp. of Chicago.

U.S. Bank Wealth Management of Minneapolis has promoted Brett Sorensen, 33, to vice president and private-banking relationship manager for The Private Client Reserve of U.S. Bank, responsible for managing the banking needs of high-net-worth individuals and families.

Previously, he was a commercial-banking relationship manager with U.S. Bank.

Dynasty Financial Partners of New York has hired Ed Friedman, 53, as director of strategic relationships, responsible for bus-iness development, managing key client relationships and delivering practice management programs to the firm’s network of advisers.

Previously, he was an independent consultant to the financial services industry.

LLBH Private Wealth Management of Westport, Conn., has promoted Michael Kazakewich, 37, to partner, from associate partner.

He will serve on the firm’s investment committee and lead the company’s financial planning efforts, focusing on asset management, concentrated stock hedging, lending, alternative investment due diligence and family office services.
