4. Accelerate medical deductions into 2012
If you have large out-of-pocket medical expenses this year and you anticipate more healthcare bills early next year, try to bunch as many procedures, exams and outlays into 2012 as possible. Currently, you can deduct only those unreimbursed medical costs that exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. That threshold increases to 10% of AGI next year for taxpayers younger than 65.
