The departure earlier this year of NeelKashkari made plenty of headlines. But while Kashkari will be missed, his leaving will not affect Pimco’s equity business, said Marc Seidner, portfolio manager and interim head of equities portfolio management at the fund company. He noted that the recent changes are less important than what has not changed: “Our design in building the equity business was never about one star or one person; it was about building a sustainable platform and attracting world-class teams to what we think is a worldclass organization, then integrating those teams into the investment process and the Pimco culture.” While equity investments remain a small part of the bond giant's business, the recent successes of its stock siblings will likely attract more interest in such products. “As investment themes and markets and investment ideas evolve over time, we are constantly reviewing and scouring the landscape for additional opportunities,” Seidner said.
