George Kinder helped create the life planning movement, where advisers learn what inspires a client before worrying about their risk tolerance or investment preferences. Beginning in the 1990s, Mr. Kinder began discussing ways of helping clients discover their personal passions and how to use their finances to achieve their dreams, as opposed to focusing on investment products. He wrote two texts on the subject and created the Kinder Institute of Life Planning to guide advisers on how to interact with clients and develop life plans for them.
