4. Not paying attention
Don’t be the saver who throws out quarterly statements — and don’t be the account holder who obsessively checks up on his or her 401(k) every day. Mr. Castille instead recommends that workers come up with a plan, stick with it and make sure that they’re still on track to meet savings goals.
Take the time for a refresher on your 401(k) right around benefits re-enrollment time. Workers review and re-enroll in their health care benefit programs every year. This might also be a good time to check up on your 401(k) plan, Mr. Castille noted.
