No. 5: Medical and dental expenses
Beginning in 2013, taxpayers under age 65 will be able to deduct only those medical and dental expenses that exceed 10% of their adjusted gross income, up from 7.5% of AGI in 2012. Taxpayers age 65 and older can continue to use the 7.5% of AGI threshold temporarily. The floor for medical and dental expense deductions will increase to 10% for seniors in 2017.
