Mike Tyson, Glen Rice, Dikembe Mutombo
The former financial adviser to boxing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and other famous athletes, including basketball stars Glen Rice and Dikembe Mutombo, was sentenced in September to 33 months in prison and ordered to repay $1 million.
The adviser, Brian Ourand, a former executive at SFX Financial Advisory Management Enterprises, had pled guilty in February to stealing roughly $1 million from the celebrities and one unnamed athlete.
The theft included roughly $550,000 he stole form Mr. Tyson from 2006-11; $265,000 from Mr. Rice; and $183,000 from Mr. Mutombo. Mr. Ourand admitted to using the money for tanning sessions, dental work, gambling debts, hotels and golf fees, among other things.
