More Finra change coming through 360 initiative
Last year, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc.’s CEO Robert Cook launched Finra 360, the organization’s internal self-review. That effort is likely to result in several changes in oversight in 2018. Mr. Cook has promised that the regulator will reform its examination process by sharing more information with firms during exams, improving the information-request process for exams and increasing examiner training. Reviewing current regulations is another part of Finra 360. This year, Finra is likely to release a proposal to streamline the rule governing outside business activities so that it focuses more on “investment-related” actions that could harm investors.
