Will Warren Buffett retire in 2010? Doug Kass says yes

Dec 28, 2009 @ 3:09 pm

By Investment News staff

In an interview on CNBC's Squawk Box this morning (see video below), Seabreeze Partners' Doug Kass predicted Warren Buffett will step down in the coming year.

According to Mr. Kass's scenario, the Oracle of Omaha will announce that he is handing over the investment reins to a Berkshire outsider.

He also predicted that Mr. Buffett will announce his in-house successor as chief operating officer by Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting in 2011.

Mr. Kass is the general partner at Seabreeze Partners Long/Short LP and Seabreeze Partners Long/Short Offshore LP.

In January, Mr. Kass wrote that "Buffett's salad days seem to be over; the only question that remains is the timing and to what degree investors will abandon the Oracle of Omaha."
Mr. Buffett has repeatedly said he has not intention of stepping down.
