Laserfiche Mobile is ready for download from the Apple iTunes store for iPhone users.

Financial advisers that use various Laserfiche products will be to view and approve workplace documents, as well as capture and upload new documents with the iPhone camera.

The application is able to make use of the iPhone's high-resolution touch screen and fairly decent resolution camera to both create and upload content. Users can also crop, straighten and even perform some enhancement to captured information, and the application supports full text recognition.

Users can also copy, move, rename, download, e-mail, print or delete content using the mobile application, as well as browse for documents in a folder structure or search Laserfiche repositories they've set up on their network.

According to a prepared statement sent out today by the company, advisers will also be able to “participate in workflow automation processes by accessing metadata fields” while using the application.

To be honest, I have yet to fully understand what this means. But since Laserfiche Mobile has a built-in demonstration — and is available for free download from the Apple App Store — you might glom on more quickly than me.

The mobile app currently works with a separate, additional download to connect you to your already established repositories — Laserfiche Web Access — as a part of Laserfiche Avante and Laserfiche Rio installations.

UPDATE: Once you install the Laserfiche Mobile Add-on for Web Access then iPhone users with the application installed will be able to connect.

According to the statement: “To accept connections from Laserfiche Mobile, Laserfiche users can download the free add-on, Laserfiche Mobile Add-On, from the Laserfiche Support Site.”

UPDATE:Solo practitioners using the Laserfiche Intuition Pro application will have to upgrade to Avante to use the iPhone application with your repositories, again because Laserfiche Mobile requires the Web Access module.
