Mary Schapiro elected to Morgan Stanley board
Executive has served as the chair of the SEC, Finra and the CFTC
Mary Schapiro has been elected to Morgan Stanley’s board of directors, effective Sunday.
Ms. Schapiro is currently vice chair of Promontory Advisory Board, which is part of Promontory Financial Group, a strategy, risk management and regulatory compliance firm that was acquired by IBM in 2016.

Ms. Shapiro served as chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission from January 2009 through December 2012. Before that, from 2006 through 2008, she was the chair and CEO of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, where she held a number of key executive positions, including serving as vice chair and president of NASD Regulation, a Finra predecessor.
Ms. Schapiro also served as chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission from 1994 to 1996.
