Variable annuities have seen some hard times recently. In 2018, sales eked out a 2% increase, breaking a string of six consecutive years of sales declines. VAs took a renewed hit in the first quarter, though, when sales fell 7% from the year-earlier period, to a level that last prevailed in the 1990s.
But independent broker-dealers soldier on. Here’s a list of the 10 IBDs that had the most revenue from variable annuities last year.
