Commonwealth Financial Network has just launched a client portal it calls Investor360°.
The online tool is meant for investor clients of Commonwealth advisers to view their financials — think of this as the end-client extension of Commonwealth’s constantly updated and venerable Client360° adviser-facing suite of tools.
I spoke with Darren Tedesco, managing principal of innovation and strategy at Commonwealth.
“It [Investor360°] offers clients access and transparency to every single account that the adviser manages, regardless of the custodian, whether it is NFS/Fidelity, Pershing, SEI, Curian, direct mutual fund and insurance companies, non-traded alternative investments,” he said, going to explain that this even includes managed futures or REITs, the sorts of investments many other broker-dealers do not cover.
“All accounts in a household are tracked, scrubbed, and display daily performance, asset allocation, cash available, and the like, regardless of who the custodian is and if it is a fee-based or transactional account,” said Mr. Tedesco.
In addition to account views the platform also provides performance reporting, which includes benchmarks as well as realized gain/loss data, and additional account aggregation features.
Something that will have special appeal for Commonwealth’s advisers is the control they have over these features, which are entitlement-based, meaning the adviser can turn them on or off for individual clients.
Advisers can also mimic the view that a client is seeing if they are on a phone call together.
Documents stored in Client360° can be shared with investors at the adviser’s discretion as well.
“The online client vault allows advisers to share any documents, spreadsheets, etc. with the client with no charge for unlimited storage,” said Mr. Tedesco.
Users are also able to export data to into Excel and TurboTax and are provided access to an updated consolidated statement.
When it comes to Excel there is a user configurable holdings tab that allows end users to select up to 25 columns of data.
And unlike quite a few portals from other broker-dealers I’m familiar with Commonwealth has made sure it is compatible with multiple web browsers, including Apple’s Safari, Firefox, Google Chrome, as well as Internet Explorer.
