Matt Ackermann is an award-winning journalist and director of digital content at InvestmentNews, where he manages online content, including video, webinars and creative projects. Since joining InvestmentNews as the digital editor in August 2013, he produced Practice Makeover, a reality video series awarded the Crain Editorial Award in April. Previously, Matt was the online editor-in-chief for SourceMedia’s investment advisor group. He worked at SourceMedia from 2000 to 2011, as a writer and editor. From 2011 to 2012, he was an executive vice president at Jennifer Connelly Interactive Productions, where he produced video and interactive content for financial services companies. At SourceMedia, Matt launched the investment advisor group's video channel, AdvisorTV. Matt is a 1997 graduate of Seton Hall University and was awarded the NJPA Rookie of the Year Award for Journalism in 1997. A passionate semi-pro baseball coach since 1994, he and his wife Marisa are the father of a three-year-old son, C.J., who Matt hopes will someday play for the Baltimore Orioles.
Executive Vice President, Recruiting and Acquisition Strategy, AIG Advisor Group
Kevin Beard is Executive Vice President, Recruiting and Acquisition Strategy for AIG Advisor Group. Kevin is responsible for leading, designing, and developing the recruiting strategy for the entire AIG Advisor Group network. Specifically, he leads the strategic planning process for all acquisitions that are $5 million or more in GDC across FSC, Royal Alliance, SagePoint, and Woodbury Financial.
Prior to this role, Kevin was the Senior Vice President of Recruiting for Royal Alliance, where he and his team recruited new advisors and super OSJs to the broker-dealer and provided assistance to current advisors in support of their recruiting efforts. Before joining Royal Alliance in 2009, Kevin served as Regional Director at Rehmann Group, where he was responsible for recruiting and acquisition of wealth management firms, as well as developing strategies on the distribution of platforms within other CPA firms and broker-dealers.
In 2007 Kevin co-founded Innovative Advanced Resources, a company that assisted high net-worth advisors, registered investment advisors and asset managers with their distribution needs. As managing partner, he was instrumental in implementing business development initiatives and marketing the firm’s core products and services.
In 2007 Kevin established Beard Management, where he provided business development resources to broker-dealers and financial services firms. From 2001 to 2007, he was senior field vice president for Pacific Select Group (PSG) and director of business development (PSG) where he was successful in recruiting hundreds of financial advisors with more than $125 million in gross dealer concessions to the firms. In addition to serving as the lead business development manager at PSG, Kevin also developed and managed the business development process and team, and he directed marketing and public relations programs.
Kevin attended Kent State University and holds the series 7, 24 and insurance licenses. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) Northeast Ohio Chapter and the FSI.

As Director of Next Generation Advisor Strategy for Wells Fargo Advisors, Devin is able to bring his 19 years of experience as a Financial Advisor, Financial Software product developer, and Best Practices Manager to bear on one of the most pressing challenges of our industry: how we successfully prepare for the changing demographics of both our client base and our financial advisors. He and his team are collaborating with key organizations throughout the firm to rethink, revamp and reframe how they attract, hire, develop and retain new advisors. He is a proud member of both Generation X and Generation D.
Most recently, Devin was the Director of Practice Management Programs, leading an elite team of consultants who worked closely with the top advisors at the firm to help them implement proven strategies to refine their business models, improve client service and increase profitability in a sustainable fashion.
Devin’s first role at Wells Fargo Advisors was to lead a team that developed and delivered the firm-wide training initiative for the EnvisionSM process – the brokerage firm’s proprietary life goals-based investment planning system. The ultimate result was the development of a comprehensive educational curriculum which has been delivered to over 10,000 financial advisors, and continues to be used today.
Prior to his time at Wells Fargo Advisors, Devin spent seven years as a financial advisor with a Chicago-based regional investment firm. During his tenure, his team’s production grew three-fold. Previously, he held several positions in product development and support with the investment research firm, Ibbotson Associates. He was part of the team that created and brought to market Ibbotson’s first retail-based financial planning tool.
After four years in Richmond, Virginia, Devin is once again a Midwesterner, having relocated to St. Louis in 2008. Prior to his time out east, he spent 14 years in Chicago. Originally from Canada, he moved to the United States to attend college, play NCAA hockey and start his career. He spends his time away from work staying active with his wife of 15 years, and three children (who are true Gen D’ers).
Associate Professor of Practice, Virginia Tech
Derek Klock is an Associate Professor of Practice in Finance in the Pamplin College of Business. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in 1996. After graduation Mr. Klock worked in the banking and brokerage industry for nearly five years in both bank management and as a personal and small business investment consultant. He was frequently called upon to teach training classes on various investing topics such as IRAs and other qualified retirement plans. Upon completing his Army Reserve commitment he decided to return to Virginia Tech for graduate school. In 2005 he received his MBA from Pamplin and began teaching various business and economics classes at Hollins University. After realizing his love for teaching he once again found his way back to Virginia Tech to join the finance faculty where he currently teaches the Finance Concepts and Skills course – a quantitatively-intense financial valuation class. His teaching efforts have been recognized on several occasions being awarded both the Pamplin College and University Certificates for Teaching Excellence. He is also former recipient of the University Certificate for Excellence in Career Advising.
Mr Klock maintains active engagement with the financial planning profession attending numerous professional conferences, usually leading a group of financial planning students. Mr. Klock was previously a board member for the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants (IARFC). He is co-author on two financial planning textbooks and has also written ancillary materials for a top-ranking personal financial management text.
Vice President of Practice Management and Consulting, Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services
Anand Sekhar is vice president of practice management and consulting for Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services, a leading provider of custody and brokerage services and a unit of Fidelity Investments. In this role, he is a strategic business consultant to clients and contributor to Fidelity’s Practice Management program, helping guide the direction and development of advisor tools, whitepapers and resources in the areas of client experience, business development, retirement and advisor financing.
Prior to his current role, Anand spent several years in roles in Fidelity’s retirement division and as part of a mid-level leadership development program rotating across the firm.
Prior to joining Fidelity in 2004, Mr. Sekhar worked for several years Procter & Gamble helping in launching Charmin into Canada and Latin America.
Mr. Sekhar received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Masters of Business Administration from Babson College.
Talent Acquisition and Strategy Manager, TD Ameritrade
Lehua Stonebraker joined TD Ameritrade, the world’s largest online brokerage company, in May 2009 and currently serves as Manager, Talent Acquisition & Strategy. In her role, Lehua has responsibility for leading the centralized Talent Acquisition strategy for TD Ameritrade’s business units including Retail Distribution, Institutional, Brokerage Operations, Technology, and Corporate. Lehua is also responsible for the employment branding strategy and recruiting operations at TD Ameritrade. Her team provides consultative recruiting solutions for the talent acquisition needs of the organization with focus on optimization of recruitment technology, improving the overall candidate & hiring manager experience, identification & recruitment of diverse talent, and creating an integrated interactive recruitment media marketing program that leverages social, mobile and digital.
Lehua was integral in starting TD Ameritrade’s first rotational program back in 2009, which has expanded to include 3 different career tracks (intern, analyst, and management) across all business lines. Lehua’s passion around helping emerging talent enter the financial services industry is apparent with her work as a co-facilitator of Building an Effective Brand Webcast that was targeted towards millennials, sitting on an advisory panel for Registered Investment Advisors (RIA’s) looking to successfully hire campus talent as business successors, and contributing to a NextGen Intern Program that provides best practices tools and recommendations for RIA’s looking to build effective intern and full-time programs for entry-level talent.
Lehua has been working in as a recruiting, interviewing and human resources expert for over 15 years. Prior to TD Ameritrade she worked as a Senior Human Resources Business Partner for FirstComp Insurance and as a Market Research Interviewer at the Gallup Organization. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Human Resources from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Kimberly joined Baird in 2008 as PWM’s Human Capital Business Partner. In February 2011, she was promoted onto the Sales Management team to lead our Talent Acquisition & Integration efforts. She and her team recruit and transition, both experienced Financial Advisors, and those new to the business for our Financial Advisor Training Program. She is very knowledgeable about Teams and Succession Planning, as these areas commonly integrate with bringing new talent.
With over 19 years of experience, Kimberly began her career as an Auditor with Arthur Andersen and later transitioned into Human Resources. She has contributed to team and organizational success at Arthur Andersen, Grant Thornton, and as the Director of Human Resources for Stark Investments.
Kimberly earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She achieved the Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) designation in 2008.

Kelle Thompson is the Vice President of Enterprise Talent Marketing at Fidelity Investments where she leads the firm’s efforts in employment branding and social recruiting and relentlessly advocates on the use of labor market information to make both strategic and operational staffing decisions. Prior to working at Fidelity Investments, Kelle was at Liberty Mutual Group where she was responsible for recruitment marketing and employment branding for the Fortune 100 company, including the careers website, recruiting collateral, and social recruiting strategy. Kelle received her MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and her BA from Wellesley College. A committed Yankees fan, she currently resides in the Greater Boston area, a.k.a Red Sox Nation, and wears her Yankees hat with discretion.

With nearly 20 years of industry experience, Jeff Vivacqua has an active role in managing strategic issues for Cambridge Investment Research that affect rep-advisors including marketing, sales, operations, business development, and technology and is also responsible for developing strategic initiatives for Continuity Partners Group that address continuity, succession and acquisition needs for today's independent rep-advisors. He brings prior experience in advisor-based solutions from his leadership roles at Mutual Service Corporation (LPL), the AIG Advisor Group, SunAmerica Securities, and Charles Schwab. Vivacqua earned a BS in finance from Southern Illinois University and has certificates in Personal Financial Planning and Facilitative Leadership Training programs.
