Andrew Kelsen

As the Chief Investment Officer at Moneta, Andrew Kelsen is the interface between partner teams, operations, portfolio management and the investment universe. He leads the sourcing, due diligence and ongoing oversight of the investment solutions Moneta delivers. He also provides mentorship and knowledge sharing with the entire investments team.

A multi-class professional, Kelsen has overseen origination, screening, evaluation, negotiation, portfolio construction and monitoring of private equity, hedge fund, real estate, timberland, and fixed income investments. He began his career in 1987 on Wall Street in retail brokerage, fixed income trading and commodities trading. From there he went to Chicago and spent a number of years at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade specializing in interest derivatives and fixed income options. Later moving to Atlanta, he ran fixed income and equity trading and underwriting operations before moving into investment consulting. Returning to Chicago, he served as both alternative investment research head and consultant, as well as a hedge fund portfolio manager at a family office.

Prior to joining Moneta, Kelsen was the alternative investment portfolio manager and interim chief investment officer of the $13 billion Chicago Teachers Pension Fund.
