Jason Marcus is chief operating officer and chief compliance officer at Scharf Investments. He is responsible for all operational, administrative, legal, and compliance facets of the company. Mr. Marcus is also involved in business development and strategy.
Prior to joining Scharf Investments in 2010, Marcus worked for Fairholme Capital Management as the operations and compliance manager. His previous roles at that firm included execution trader, operations specialist, portfolio accountant, and client administration associate. During his eight years at Fairholme, the firm grew by more than $15 billion.
While the strategy has real benefits, the gap between a client's commitment and the custodian's operational competence and capabilities can force undesirable outcomes.
