Equitable Advisors has expanded its reach in Virginia with the addition of two veteran advisors from Truist.

The advisory unit of financial services giant Equitable revealed Wednesday that it has welcomed Lori Brown and Jim Carroll to its wealth management business.

Brown and Carroll, who lead the Roanoke, Virginia-based practice Star City Private Wealth, each bring over twenty years of experience in financial services, retirement planning, and investment management to their clientele of individuals, families, and businesses.

The duo, previously affiliated with Truist, reported managing a portfolio worth $326 million at their former firm. They chose to shift to Equitable Advisors to leverage its extensive resources and capabilities, which they believe will help as they further develop their practice and provide comprehensive financial planning for their clients.

“We take pride in forming strong, long-lasting relationships that help build better lives and communities, as well as becoming our clients’ trusted advisors,” Brown said in a statement.

Brown, a 23-year veteran of the industry, also praised Equitable Advisors’ “platform, capabilities and philosophy [which] align perfectly with our client service model.”

Beyond the ability to scale their business, Carroll, whose industry resume stretches back over two decades, said the move gives them access to comprehensive planning and technology resources, letting them “create even more meaningful connections with our clients and better serve their individual needs.”

Joining Brown and Carroll at Equitable Advisors are financial consultant Madelyn Brown, registered client service associate Michele Page, and client experience manager Sherry Minnix.

The firm, which reported roughly $91 billion in AUA as of March 31 with more than 4,300 advisors from coast to coast, extended its footprint in California in March with a boomerang advisor from Cetera who runs a Mandarin community-focused practice.
