Opto Investments, a fintech platform for private market investments, has introduced a new capability to help firms build tailor-made investment plans for their clients' financial objectives.
In a statement published Tuesday, the firm said its new tool, Planner, is designed to help advisors develop appropriate private market allocations that reflect their clients’ long-term financial plans.
From there, Opto said the tool enables advisors to determine the appropriate private market allocation, and formulate an investment pacing strategy according to their individual needs, with clear projections for different investments across the spectrum.
In InvestmentNews' most Q3 2024 outlook survey of financial advisors, 19 percent said they plan to increase or start using private equity in their portfolios over the next 12 months. Another 17 percent expressed similar interest in private debt, while 15 percent said they'll be ramping up or start allocating toward real estate.
With their firm's model portfolios on Opto as building blocks, advisors using the Planner tool can create target allocations and generate proposals that communicate the investment plan to their clients.
Opto, which works with roughly 250 RIAs and family offices, has reportedly seen over $1 billion in commitments through its platform. The firm is working to launch more than 40 custom funds, ranging in size from $25 million to $300 million, spanning private credit, private equity, real estate, and venture capital.
“From start to finish, private markets can be complex,” Eytan Schindelhaim, head of product at Opto Investments, said Tuesday. “The Planner enables advisors to clearly demonstrate to clients how private markets can help them achieve their goals within the context of their total portfolio – and then lays out the steps to get there.”
The launch of the planning tool comes after several months of significant wins for the fintech platform. Through the summer and into early fall, Opto forged a number of strategic partnerships including a June deal to power an in-house private investments platform at Mercer Advisors, an August tie-up with Conway Investment Solutions, and an October agreement to deliver alternative investment options at EP Wealth Advisors.
Blue Anchor Capital Management and Pickett also purchased “highly aggressive and volatile” securities, according to the order.
