Leading alternative investment platform CAIS has unveiled a new strategic appointment to bolster its commitment to independent financial advisors.
In a move that marks a significant milestone for CAIS, the company has announced David Canter as its newest strategic advisor. Canter brings with him a wealth of experience and insight accumulated over two decades serving the RIA community.
"We are excited to have David join the CAIS team at a time when independent advisors are adopting CAIS technology as their primary solution to scale alternative investments,” said Matt Brown, founder and CEO of CAIS. "David has been a champion of the RIA community for decades; his deep experience and network will have a meaningful contribution to our mission."
This is not Canter’s first time engaging with CAIS, as he has served on its advisory council for the better part of the last decade.
His extensive experience includes past leadership roles at Charles Schwab and a stint of more than 10 years at Fidelity Investments, where he led the RIA and family office segments. He was also at the forefront of Fidelity's practice management and consulting practice.
From there Canter went on to join Bluespring Wealth Partners, a unit of Kestra Holdings that was originally created as an RIA consolidator, as its president in 2022. But his leadership at Bluespring proved short-lived as he stepped down from the position less than a year later.
Currently, Canter is a trustee for the Accordant Investments family of mutual funds, and a board member of Invest in Others. Previously, he sat on the board at the Foundation for Financial Planning.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with the entire CAIS team as they continue to develop best-in-class technology solutions for the independent advisor community,” Canter said in a statement.
The latest announcement from CAIS on the heels of the launch of CAIS Live, its alternative investment education program tailored for independent financial advisors across the US. The program is designed to marry CAIS’ state-of-the-art technology with hands-on educational experiences through one-day events. As an extension of its platform, CAIS also offers CAIS IQ, which aims to help advisors gain deeper knowledge and confidence in alternative investment strategies.
