Greenwich November hedge index off 1.61%

The Greenwich Global Hedge Fund Index fell 1.61% in November, but remains up 10.53% for the year. The index reported significantly smaller losses than the Standard & Poor's 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq Composite Index, which were off 4.40%, 4.01% and 6.93%, respectively in November. The Directional Trading Group, pushed downward by a 0.87% decline in the Macro strategy, fell by 0.12% in November. The Market Neutral Group dropped 1.15% and is up 7.74% for the year. The Specialty Strategies Group, which was impacted by a 2.79% decline among emerging market managers, fell 1.94% and remains up 16.46% year-to-date. The Long-Short Equity Group fell 2.34%, despite recording a 7.14% increase in the dedicated short-sellers category. Within the past week, the Hennessee Hedge Fund Index and the HFRI Hedge Fund Composite Index recorded November slides of 1.58% (InvestmentNews, Dec. 10) and 1.4% (InvestmentNews, Dec. 7) , respectively.
