An advisor who oversaw $475 million in client assets at Bank of America Private Bank has affiliated with LPL Financial to start an independent practice, the firm said Monday.

Amy Lawrence, who has six years of experience, according to her BrokerCheck report, is launching Gorilla Investments Co. in Miami. She’s joined in the move by staffer Rey Lawrence.

Lawrence noted that LPL’s platform and digital tools “will significantly enhance how we operate.”

“With LPL we have access to a wider range of offerings, resources, innovative tools, and capabilities that will increase both the speed and quality of our services,” Lawrence said in a statement.

In addition to financial advice, Lawrence works with clients on succession planning and wealth management needs after a business has been sold. She also serves as president of the Miami Finance Forum and as Southeast regional director of the Hedge Fund Association.

"I am thrilled that Gorilla Investments Co. has decided to launch in the vibrant city of Miami,” Francis Suarez, mayor of Miami, said in the statement. “The commitment of Amy and her team to providing exceptional financial services aligns perfectly with our vision to become the 'capital of capital.'”
