ETrade adds 32 Vanguard ETFs to its no-transaction-fee platform
Also adds ETFs from iShares, Direxion and others
JUN 20, 2018

ETrade has added 46 exchange-traded funds to its no-transaction-fee lineup, including 32 from Vanguard. Other ETFs added were from Direxion, iShares, Janus Henderson, NuShares and Reality Shares. The online brokerage now has more than 250 ETFs on its NTF platform. The Vanguard offerings include some of the company's most popular ETFs, such as Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) and Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI). ETrade also now offers factor ETFs that Vanguard rolled out recently, such as Vanguard U.S. Liquidity Factor ETF (VFLQ) and Vanguard Multifactor ETF (VFMF). The iShares ETFs now available are a trio of bond ETFs, and the NuShares offerings are three U.S. stock ETFs that concentrate on environmental, social and governance concerns. Investors will be able to buy three Direxion ETFs — an all-cap stock ETF, an equally weighted Nasdaq index ETF and a commodity strategy ETF. A Janus Henderson small-cap fund now appears on the ETrade platform, as do three Realty Share ETFs. All that free trading isn't exactly free, notes Dan Wiener, editor of The Independent Adviser for Vanguard Investors. The sweep money market fund for the ETrade platform, where uninvested funds are held, yields just 0.01%, versus 1.68% for the average money market fund.
