Exchange traded fund assets increased by 9.7% in September, as 15 new funds were launched, according to State Street's monthly exchange traded fund snapshot. In total, there were 560 ETFs in the U.S. managed by 17 money managers, with assets totaling $554 billion, up from $505 billion in August. International and size-based ETFs saw assets increase 13.5% and 10.3%, respectively. sector, commodity, style, specialty and fixed-income ETFs each added $1 billion in assets during the month. Barclays Global Investors of San Francisco had the largest assets under management with $311 billion across 139 ETFs. State Street Global Advisors of Boston came in second, with $133 billion in assets under management across 60 ETFs.
