Vanguard plans three index funds

The Vanguard Group yesterday filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer three index funds.

The Vanguard Group yesterday filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer three index funds. They are the Vanguard Mega Cap 300 Index Fund, Vanguard Mega Cap 300 Growth Index Fund, and Vanguard Mega Cap 300 Value Index Fund. All of the funds are based on Morgan Stanley Capital International Indexes. The funds will be managed by Vanguard Quantitative Equity Group, which oversees more than $575 billion in indexed assets. Vanguard currently has 33 exchange-traded funds with $35 billion in assets. Malvern, Pa.-based Vanguard managed more than $1.2 trillion in U.S. mutual fund assets as of August 31.
