MFS making market commentary available to advisers via iTunes Why download music when you could instead be listening to a market outlook forecast from MFS Investment Management? Yes, the Boston-based firm, which has $183 billion in assets under management, announced this week the availability of its market commentary podcasts through Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple Inc.’s iTunes store. MFS has also added real simple syndication feeds to the News and Commentary section of its website, mfs.com. “Through iTunes, we are providing educational content for advisers and investors to help them understand big-picture investing and economic trends important to their portfolios,” William Finnegan, director of global retail marketing for MFS, said in a statement. “By leveraging iTunes, we are adding a worldwide channel to share our insights and thoughts on topics important to our clients, shareholders and the general public,” he added. MFS has previously offered video and audio podcasts from its website. Advisers and investors can continue to download directly from mfs.com or can now subscribe through the iTunes store (just type “MFS” in the keyword search box). The downloads are free. Advisors Forum merges with Wealth Advisor Institute Online collaboration and networking among advisers, attorneys and other estate-planning professionals has taken a step forward. Two organizations, the Wealth Advisor Institute and the Advisors Forum announced the completion of their merger negotiations. Their combined total membership is now around 1,000. "Together, the two organizations will be much better able to fulfill their similar missions of fostering collaboration and networking among wealth advisors from multiple disciplines, while creating value for the clients they serve." Jonathan Mintz, executive director of the Advisors Forum, said in a press release. New equities trading features available on Pershing platform Through an agreement reached with Paris-based GL Trade SA this week, Pershing LLC can now provide global-equity trade execution for U.S. and international destinations. Independent registered investment advisers and introducing broker-dealers can access the system through the Jersey City, N.J., company’s clearing platform via a single sign-on connection, GL Trade's order management system and proprietary order-routing network provide the engine driving the system and allows users to connect through several industry protocols, such as Bloomberg, GL Net, Reuters, Swift and Fix. Advisers are provided real-time electronic reporting of order execution that can include commissions, fees, average price and settlement date. “GL Trade’s sophisticated order management and routing network will further enable us to execute our customers' global-equity trades in a more efficient and effective manner," said Craig Messinger, managing director of trading services at Pershing.
