New versions of Profiles Professional and Profiles Forecaster are available from Emerging Information Systems Inc. The popular Profiles Professional (Version 9.2) program is meant for advisers serving the mass-affluent market, and boasts 13 personal and four business planning modules. Of particular interest to many advisers will be the new embedded Roth IRA conversion calculator. Profiles Forecaster (now in Version 4.2) is a more basic goal-based planning and analysis tool. With the new versions, advisers can more quickly search through and re-order elements within reports, and move the reports in and out of a presentation or template. The interface of both programs has been brightened up a bit with new colors, and the design of some of the buttons, fields, and navigation bars and menus has been updated. While the Roth IRA conversion calculator's interface in Profiles appears fairly rudimentary when compared to some of the more advanced tools available, it should help advisers with quick assessments of a client's situation during meeting or phone calls. Advisers using SmartOffice customer relationship management software from Ebix Inc. will already be aware of the integration with the last desktop version of Profiles Professional, but now a similar integration has been made with the online version. This allows advisers to pre-populate the online version of Profiles with various pieces of client data. thus saving them time on data entry. Finally, there is a new integration that allows advisers using both Profiles Professional and Morningstar Advisor Workstation Enterprise Edition to export data into the latter program and access its client presentation, investment planning, portfolio analysis, and research tools. There is also access provided for Portfolio Builder, a portfolio proposal and analytics program. A basic annual subscription license for the desktop version of Profiles is $1,049; the online version is $1,248 with an additional one-time setup fee of $30. There are several additional modules available as well, including a Monte Carlo simulation module, an advanced estate planning module ($250 each), and an Ibbotson security classifier module ($150). A basic annual subscription to Profiles Forecaster is $599; the online version is $798 and also requires a one-time $30 setup fee. There is also an Ibbotson asset allocation module available for Forecaster as well, which is $200. For more information visit the Profiles Pro, Profiles Forecaster or EISI homepage.
