Bank of Japan will hold rates steady

Despite economic concerns, the central bank keeps interest rates unchanged.

The Bank of Japan kept interest rates unchanged today in the midst of growing concerns of an economic slowdown in the Asian country. The 9-0 vote was the third straight unanimous vote reached by the Tokyo-based bank’s policy board. Japan’s economy remains stable but has been weakened slightly due to a housing slump occurring, according to an economic report the bank issued after the board’s decision.
