Bison Wealth has made another significant addition to its network by welcoming a seasoned high-net-worth advisor in the Empire State.

On Monday, the Atlanta-headquartered RIA announced the addition of James McTiernan, a former principal at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, to its expanding operational footprint.

McTiernan, who spent over 25 years at BNY Mellon, joins Bison as the firm continues to grow its national presence, including a new office in New York.

In his previous role, McTiernan managed assets of more than $450 million and developed tailored investment strategies for high-net-worth individuals, retirees, and business owners.

“I am honored and excited to join a firm like Bison Wealth that exemplifies forward-thinking individuals along with cutting-edge resources and strategies,” McTiernan said in a statement announcing his recruitment.

In explaining his move to Bison, he highlighted the opportunity to "work with a more exclusive group of clients," empowered by a team that lets him "access a wider selection of comprehensive investment and financial plans ... to meet each individual and family’s specific short- and long-term needs and goals.”

“Jim is an excellent addition to our firm and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Bison family," said Brad Ball, founder of Bison Wealth.

Last year, the firm onboarded senior managing director Tom Scaturro to spearhead its expansion and acquisition efforts.

Since then, the firm's inorganic growth push has gathered significant momentum, including a $750 million duo from Key Private Bank in Philadelphia that joined in April.

Backed by The Terry and Kim Pegula Family Office, it oversees roughly $1.6 billion in regulatory assets under management, according to its latest Form ADV, and plans to grow that further with more expansions in 2025.

“We've brought some exciting new teams on board this year and are excited to add a New York office for Bison Wealth,” Ball said.
