Finra bars former LPL broker over no-show at hearing

Subject was Jerry Lee Travers' payments to a non-registered person.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority has barred former LPL broker Jerry Lee Travers from the securities industry for failing to appear for on-the-record testimony in connection with a Finra investigation. "The testimony was requested in connection with an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Travers' payments in connection with securities transactions to a non-registered person," Finra said in a letter of acceptance, waiver and consent. Mr. Travers was separated from LPL Financial in December 2016 and is no longer associated with a Finra member firm. He began his securities career at Merit Securities in 1983, moved to Principal Financial in 1986, and to Rauscher Pierce Refsnes in 1985. He joined Morgan Keegan in 2004 and affiliated with LPL in 2012. Separately, Finra barred former broker John Robert Larson for failing to provide requested information and documentation. In April, Mr. Larson was permitted to resign from Waddell & Reed, where he had been employed since 2008, over irregularities in expense reports he submitted to the firm. In the months after his departure, Finra requested information of him several times. Mr. Larson started his securities career at H.D. Vest in 1998 and worked at four firms before joining Waddell & Reed.
