As football season officially kicks off, WFA, an advisor partner of RFG Advisory operating in Louisiana, has bolstered its capacity to assist pro athletes with the addition of two veterans from the world of professional sports.

The financial advisory team practice based in Shreveport announced that it has hired two local figures – former Cincinnati Bengals safety Brandon Wilson and ex-KSLA News 12 sports reporter Rashad Johnson.

The duo is joining the team to promote financial literacy among young athletes, marking a key addition to WFA’s mission of supporting athletes in navigating their financial futures.

Wilson, who retired from a seven-year NFL career, aims to help athletes avoid the financial challenges he encountered early in his professional life.

“When I got my first paycheck as a professional athlete, I was severely underprepared. I had no plan. I want to be able to educate others who will follow in my footsteps so they don’t make the same mistakes I did,” Wilson said in a statement

Johnson, formerly head of the sports department at KSLA News 12 and a longtime collaborator with WFA, is shifting to a full-time role with the firm as he transitions into his new career as a financial advisor.

He has a background in digital media and nonprofit work, which he hopes to leverage in his new position. “Working with Chase, Dany, and the team at WFA over the years inspired me to advocate for others and help them plan for their financial futures,” Johnson noted.

WFA, an advisor partner of RFG Advisory, is expanding its efforts to support high-school, collegiate, and professional athletes, as well as those involved in NIL endorsement deals.

“Brandon and Rashad are exactly the type of driven individuals that we look for when hiring and training future financial advisors,” said Chase R. Crump, WFA partner who was recently named a Registered Player Financial Advisor by the NFL Players Association.
