Wealth Enhancement has agreed to acquire Cloud Investments, LLC, a registered investment advisor headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, adding more than $462 million in client assets under management and opening the company's first offices in the state.

The transaction, terms of which were not disclosed, brings Wealth Enhancement's total client assets to approximately $158.9 billion, according to the firm. It represents the latest in a sustained acquisition push by the company, which has grown rapidly through deals with independent advisory practices across the country.

Cloud Investments was founded in 2006 by Don Cloud, who serves as president and wealth advisor, and operates three offices in Huntsville, Florence, and Gadsden. The firm employs five advisors and six support professionals and has built much of its client base around professionals and business owners tied to North Alabama's defense and aerospace sectors which have driven significant wealth concentration in the Huntsville metropolitan area in recent years.

Jeff Dekko, chief executive officer of Wealth Enhancement, said the alignment of client-first values was central to the decision to partner with the Alabama firm. "The best partnerships start with shared values. Cloud Investments is deeply committed to thoughtful financial planning, exceptional client service, and giving back to the communities where we live and work. We're excited to welcome Don and his team to Wealth Enhancement."

Wealth Enhancement has itself been the subject of M&A speculation in the past week. Carlyle and Bain Capital are said to be the final bidders for the firm as PE appetite for independent wealth managers intensifies.

A new market for a national aggregator

Jim Cahn, chief strategy officer of Wealth Enhancement, based in Plymouth, Minnesota, described the Alabama deal as a deliberate geographic expansion. "This partnership marks Wealth Enhancement's first location in Alabama. As we officially enter this new market, we're excited to build on the foundation Don and his team have built while bringing our national scale and planning capabilities to even more families across the region."

The deal underscores a broader pattern in the independent advisory space: large national platforms are increasingly seeking to plant flags in markets that have historically been underserved by major wealth management firms. Alabama, with its growing high-net-worth population tied to aerospace, defense, and manufacturing, presents a meaningful opportunity for firms able to offer institutional-grade planning to individual investors.

Services and client focus

Cloud Investments offers a broad range of wealth planning services, including retirement planning, investment management, tax strategy, estate planning, and risk management. The firm's client philosophy — encapsulated in its stated guiding principle of "Strategy-Ethics-Performance" — has anchored nearly two decades of advisory relationships with families and business owners throughout North Alabama.

Don Cloud said the firm's priorities will remain unchanged following the transaction. "We are excited about the enhanced resources and reach that this partnership will bring to our team. Our focus stays the same as it has always been, to provide a positive and lasting impact on our clients and community through dedication, excellence, and integrity."

Wealth Enhancement has not announced a timeline for completing the Cloud Investments acquisition.
