Fidelity Investments has launched two environmental, social and governance index funds: the Fidelity U.S. Sustainability Index Fund and Fidelity International Sustainability Index Fund. The two funds — the firm's first ESG index funds — are available in three share classes in order to be marketed to individual investors directly as well as through financial advisers and workplace retirement plans. They complement the firm's actively managed ESG fund, Fidelity Select Environment & Alternative Energy Portfolio. (More: Impact investing in the age of President Trump) Fidelity's domestic sustainability index fund is based on the MSCI USA ESG Index, which consists of large- and mid-cap U.S. companies with high ESG performance relative to their sector peers. The international version tracks the MSCI ACWI (All Country World Index) ex USA ESG Index, which consists of large- and mid-cap companies in 22 developed-markets and 23 emerging-markets countries.
