401(k) record keepers launch CIKR

An association has been formed to educate and advocate about issues relevant to 401(k) independent record keepers.

A group of independent 401(k) plan record keepershave formed a new organization called the Council of Independent 401(k) Recordkeepers. The goal of this Arlington, Va.-based organization is to educate and advocate about issues relevant to independent record keepers, the group said in a statement. Membership in CIKR consists of independent 401(k) plan record keepers that provide their services directly to plan sponsors or through other retirement plan service providers. “The CIKR organization will now give independent 401(k) plan record keepers a voice in ongoing policy discussions concerning the disclosure of fees and other record-keeping issues relating to 401(k) plans,” said Tommy Thomasson, CIKR chairman and chief executive of DailyAccess Corporation, in a statement. Already, 14 companies are part of this organization, including Princeton, New Jersey-based ExpertPlan Inc.; Seattle-based Milliman Inc.; Peoria, Ill.-based The Alliance Benefit Group and Atlanta-based Reliance Trust Company.
