Dollar hits new low against euro

The U.S dollar fell below $1.50 per euro for the first time, according to published reports. The dollar fell to $1.5088 per euro, the lowest since level the European single currency's debut in 1999, before trading at $1.5037 as of 7:33 a.m. in New York, from $1.4974 yesterday. The currency also dropped to 82.13 U.S. cents against the New Zealand dollar from 81.71 cents. The U.S Dollar Index fell to a record low of 74.180 during intraday trading Wednesday and was down 0.6% at 74.285 according to published reports. The dollar has declined nearly 14% versus the euro in the past year and has weakened against all but one of the 16 most-active currencies.
