Eaton Vance hires B-D marketing chief

Eaton Vance Corp. has hired Stephen J. Barrett as senior vice president and chief marketing officer of its broker-dealer subsidiary, Eaton Vance Distributors Inc. The goal of this newly created position is to boost marketing efforts so more investors are aware of the products and services offered through its financial advisers, the Boston-based investment management firm said in a statement. Mr. Barrett arrives at Eaton Vance from Overland Park, Kan.-based Waddell & Reed Financial Inc., the transfer agent for Ivy Funds Distributor Inc., where he served as senior vice president and director of marketing. He has also served as an executive vice president and director of marketing for Mackenzie Investment Management Inc., the U.S. investment management subsidiary of Toronto-based Mackenzie Financial Corp. Eaton Vance had $150.9 billion in assets under management as of March 31.
