The factory sector grew in January, marking the 75th straight month of expansion according to the latest ISM report.

The factory sector grew in January, marking the 75th straight month of expansion, according to the latest Manufacturing Institute for Supply Management Report on Businesses issued today. The ISM index rose 2.3% in January from 48.4% to 50.7%. New orders rose 2.6% to 49.5% in January with production jumping 6.6% to 55.2%. Export orders grew 6% to 58.5% with imports rising from 4.5% to 52.5%. Eight of the 18 manufacturing industries grew in January, including apparel, petroleum, food and beverage products, tobacco, leather, electrical equipment, chemicals and primary metals.
