The U.S. dollar fell to a record low against the euro today, depreciating 1.1% to $1.5965. Since Sept. 18, the Federal Reserve has slashed interest rates six times to 2.25% and in that seven-month stretch the dollar has dropped 15% against the euro. In late February, the dollar fell below $1.50 per euro for the first time since the European unified currency’s debut in 1999 (InvestmentNewsFeb. 27. “Relative inflation rates and their policy implications is the theme of the day, and is leading the euro charge toward $1.60,” Alan Ruskin, chief international strategist at Greenwich, Conn.-based RBS Greenwich Capital Markets Inc., told Reuters.
