Goldman Sachs Group Inc. named Raghav Maliah global chairman of investment banking, in addition to his regional roles in Asia, according to an internal memo.
Maliah will continue to serve as co-head of mergers & acquisitions in Asia Pacific and head of the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Group in the region, excluding Japan, according to the memo confirmed by a spokesman.
Goldman is combining its investment banking businesses across Asia Pacific into one entity in a move to bolster advisory and capital markets execution. The bank is integrating the teams in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, and Asia ex-Japan, to form a unified APAC investment banking business led by Iain Drayton.
Maliah joined Goldman Sachs in 2000 as an associate and was named managing director in 2006 and partner in 2010.
