Rockefeller Global Family Office, the wealth management arm of Rockefeller Capital Management, has announced that it has added Angela Mwanza, Jordan Powell and their four-person team, known as Oryx Legacy Partners, to its ranks.

With over 23 years of expertise in guiding ultra-wealthy families, Angela Mwanza was co-founder of UBS Group AG’s Evergreen Wealth Management. Zambian-born Mwanza claims to have been an early adopter of sustainable and impact investments. “Renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, health tech, or how we can reduce carbon emissions and impact climate change — these are topics that are very unifying across generations, and often the conversation is driven by the younger generation,” she told IN in an interview.

Mwanza was at UBS Private Wealth Management for 15 years, where she held the title of private wealth advisor and was among a select group of family office consultants. Her earlier career includes stints at Lehman Brothers Private Investment Management, Fleet Private Client Services, and J.P. Morgan Private Bank. In addition to her financial achievements, she holds an M.B.A. from Cornell University and an M.A. in linguistics from the University of Konstanz, Germany.

Mwanza's philanthropic activities include her roles on the board of directors for both Jumia, an African e-commerce platform, and Summit Junto. She is a leading figure in climate solutions, serving on the Board of Directors for Grace Farms Foundation and Project Drawdown, as well as an advisory position on Pharrell’s YELLOW Advisory Council.

Jordan Powell, another key addition, boasts over 17 years in financial services. Prior to joining Rockefeller, he served as a vice president in global equities, commodities and derivatives at BNP Paribas. Powell is a chartered financial analyst and holds degrees from Indiana University and New York University's Stern School of Business.

Mimi Kuo-Chin Shih, a private advisor with nine years of industry experience, joins Mwanza and Powell, rounding out the team with her own expertise in advising high-net-worth individuals.

The Oryx Legacy Partners also includes Wenyi "Jason" Wang, CFA, Vice President and Wealth Manager; Przemyslaw "Shem" Filipek, Associate Vice President and Wealth Manager; and Allissa Purkey, Senior Client Associate.

Christopher Dupuy, co-president of Rockefeller Global Family Office, expressed the firm’s excitement over the new additions, saying, "Angela and her team are widely recognized as being among the industry’s leading purpose-driven wealth management professionals, and we are pleased to welcome them to Rockefeller."

Earlier this year, Rockefeller added  San Francisco-based Marchetti Porter Wealth Partners with $1 billion in client assets and $2.3 billion Liberty Wealth Partners to its stable.

Rockefeller Capital Management was established five years ago and announced big growth plans last year, when CEO Greg Fleming said that the firm was planning to add up to 115 new teams. Much of the planned expansion will be focused in places that have seen an influx of wealthy residents in recent years, partly because of migration from urban areas like New York and Chicago. Cities such as Charlotte, North Carolina, Austin, Texas, and Nashville, Tennessee, where Rockefeller opened an office last year, “are clear growth centers,” Fleming said in an interview.

In April this year, the firm said it had sold a 20.5% stake for $622 million, putting its valuation in the neighborhood of $3.1 billion.
