Perigon Wealth Management (Perigon) is an independent, advisor-led RIA headquartered in San Francisco. The firm manages about $11.2 billion in client assets across more than 20 US offices as of December 31, 2025. It aims to help individuals, families, and organizations meet their financial goals through planning, investing, and retirement strategies.

History of Perigon Wealth Management

Perigon was co-founded by Mat Johnson and Phil Hart in March 2004 as an independent advisory firm in San Francisco. The firm says that it was formed as a Delaware LLC to advise clients free from product-driven sales pressure. It ran as a smaller practice for more than a decade before its growth took a new turn.

Growth through partnerships

The firm's path shifted in January 2019 after a partnership with wealth management investor Merchant Investment Management. That backing gave Perigon Wealth Management the capital to begin acquiring advisory practices across the country.

Its first deal came in 2020 with a merger with RLP Wealth Management, whose leader Jeremy Paul joined as president. By 2022, Perigon Wealth Management had also merged with PM Wealth Management and allied with tax firm Prager Metis CPAs.

New backing and national expansion

Alternative asset manager Constellation Wealth Capital took a minority stake in January 2024 as Merchant exited after five years. Perigon then acquired three more firms that year, including New York-based Blue Water Capital Management.

The firm also promoted four advisors to partner in 2025 through its Path to Partnership equity program. The program gives select advisors a chance to earn ownership in the company over time.

Perigon Wealth Management's recent activities

The firm acquired Gitterman Wealth Management and Gitterman Asset Management in Edison, NJ, in 2025. The deal added $1.3 billion in client assets and a team focused on climate-based investing strategies.

Perigon Wealth Management also earned several InvestmentNews awards that same year. These include:

  1. Best Wealth Managers & Advisors Under 40: Danny McAuliffe, wealth advisor at Perigon
  2. Women to Watch Awards 2025: Mary Ballin, excellence awardee for portfolio manager of the year
  3. $100M Club, Top Female Advisors 2025: Alexandra Quitko Baranski (Perigon East) and Mary Ballin (Walnut Creek)

The future at Perigon

Perigon Wealth Management hired two senior leaders in early 2026 to build a proprietary growth platform for its advisory network. The firm brought on Jon Seif from robo-advisor Betterment and Luke Samuels from Wealth Enhancement Group to lead it. The platform combines marketing, AI, and lead tracking as Perigon shifts from acquisition-driven growth toward organic client generation.

Perigon Wealth Management also added three advisor-partners through its Path to Partnership program in March 2026. Wealth advisors Chris Spires, Ron Op het Veld, and Scott Yi cover areas like retirement plans, alternative investments, and private client services.

The equity pathway helps Perigon keep experienced advisors and gives clients access to partners with a long-term stake in the firm.
