EyePad: Putnam rolls out videos to help advisers get tech-savvy

New series of shorts featuring mobile tech tips for day-to-day business
DEC 03, 2012
Putnam Investments has created a series of videos that offer technology tips aimed at helping financial advisers get the most out of iPads and other mobile tools in their day-to-day business. Topics covered by the videos, most are 90 seconds or less, include optimizing LinkedIn profiles, using Google Alerts to track certain topics, creating a personal newsfeed with Flipboard, signing electronic documents, taking notes on the iPad and conserving their iPad's battery life. “These are designed to show advisers how to be more productive using technology and social media,” said Brian Kelley, a senior leader on Putnam's retail distribution team. The videos, as well as a few articles focused on practice management, are available starting today at advisortechtips.com. Mr. Kelley said he envisions advisers sharing some of the information with clients who may be stymied themselves, for instance, about how to create a folder on their iPad. Not surprisingly, the video selections include one showing how to use Putnam's FundVisualizer, a web-based tool that allows users to compare about 10,000 different mutual funds and exchange-traded funds.
