Former Fidelity Investments vice president Dave Liebrock has joined Captrust Financial Advisors, an independent advisory firm, as the company's senior vice president in Boston. He worked at Fidelity Investments Institutional Services Company for 16 years, most recently as executive vice president, and was responsible for oversight and management of the adviser 401(k) product. His last day at Fidelity was Friday and he began work at Raleigh, N.C.-based Captrust today. Mr. Liebrock worked closely with advisers at Fidelity and said today that he will be an adviser at Captrust working mostly with plan sponsors in the mid-market 401(k) space. This is the first time he's served as a financial adviser. Mr. Liebrock, 52, said he was looking for a change especially as he's noticed a movement of advisory firms that specialize in the 401(k) arena. "I've seen the trend. More plan sponsors are looking to hire specialists who focus on the retirement marketplace and I have a lot of knowledge in the 401(k) market," Mr. Liebrock said. "I've been working with Fidelity a long time and I wanted to do something different." Mr. Liebrock said over the years, he worked with 1,000 advisers and he liked that Captrust had already created trust in the marketplace as a retirement leader. "When I stepped back and looked at what the marketplace was telling me, I made the decision that I wanted to do something different with my career then where I was at this time," Mr. Liebrock said. Meanwhile, executives at Captrust are excited to have Mr. Liebrock on board. "We feel like Dave's capabilities and background will easily line up with the chassis we've created and allow him to quickly add value," said Dan Doster, chief operating officer. "This gives Dave the opportunity to land on a system that's ready to go and allows him to leverage things he already does well." Captrust Financial Advisors is an independent research and advisory firm that provides services to retirement plan fiduciaries. The company manages more than $20 billion in assets.
