Osaic and Independent Financial Group have added to their advisor headcounts with teams jumping ship from rival firms at opposite sides of the country.
In Medford, Oregon, an eight-strong team managing approximately $453 million in client assets has joined Osaic’s network of independent advisors from Ameriprise Financial.
Pilot Rock Financial Advisors’ Nathan Salhus was with Ameriprise for more than five years following eight years at LPL Financial and almost four years at Edward Jones. He is joined by advisors Mark Degner, Richard Wilson II, Brian Griffith, Nicolas Nachbur, Ryan Westfall, Robert Cavens and Ryan Wilson.
Meanwhile, in the Greater Baltimore Area of Maryland, Makino Financial and advisor Karen Brelsford have joined Independent Financial Group having previously managing a combined $175 million AUM with Commonwealth Financial Network.
Makino is led by Frances Makino who has 36 years of experience in financial services, mostly with Commonwealth and previously Liberty Securities Corporation and PaineWebber, the legacy firm that was acquired by UBS in 2000 after more than a century. She is joined by her children Bernard and Gloria Makino, the firm’s next generation of leadership.
“When it came time to evaluate our future, independence was non-negotiable,” says Makino. “After months of careful consideration, we chose IFG because it shares our belief that clients deserve advice tailored to their individual needs, free from the influence of corporate interests or priorities under a large publicly held or private-equity-owned firm.”
Also joining IFG is a long-time collaborator of Makino Financial, financial advisor Karen Brelsford CFP, EA, AIF, CRPS, owner of tax practice JK Associates and a 22-year veteran of the industry.
IFG is pushing forward with its expansion blueprint by elevating two of its business development leaders recently. Chad Cristo is the new head of Business Development for the West region, while Kelsey Hasterlik, CFP, has been promoted to Regional Business Development for the Mountain region.
