A bill introduced in August would create a commission to study the hedge fund and private equity industries. Introduced by Rep. John Larson, D-Conn., HR 3417 would create a 10-member panel that would explore the tax treatment of those funds, their economic impact and whether better regulations are needed to govern such funds.
