InvestmentNews is proud to recognize Brandon Zureick, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, and Principal at Johnson Asset Management, as one of its Rising Stars of 2024. Since joining Johnson in 2011, Zureick has advanced through the firm, bringing deep expertise in fixed income markets and a commitment to disciplined investment strategies.

Reflecting on his career, Zureick credited early mentorship. “One of the proudest accomplishments I’ve had is being named principal of this firm. I am so proud to be not only an employee but an owner of Johnson Asset Management.” He also emphasized the importance of learning from experienced professionals, citing Michael Weisring and Dale Coates as instrumental in shaping his approach to fixed income investing and communication.

Adaptability is key in today’s market, and for Zureick, success comes from collaboration and debate. “Some of the most successful investment ideas we've had were born out of a healthy amount of disagreement. The key is being resolute in your conclusions, but open-minded enough to listen and adapt.”

Zureick has closely monitored inflation control, economic resilience, and Federal Reserve policies, noting that “the economy has been more resilient than expected, but we are still paying attention to historical indicators like the inverted yield curve and labor market trends.” He also pointed out that policy changes and market conditions require a flexible yet structured approach to investment strategies.

Through market uncertainty, Zureick emphasized the importance of discipline and quality in investment strategies. “Having an investment discipline is like having a road, and having a quality approach is like having a compass.” These principles have guided Johnson Asset Management through volatile times, including the COVID crisis, ensuring long-term stability for clients.

Looking ahead, Zureick remains focused on expanding Johnson’s national presence. “I have a unique connection to the culture and principles that have made Johnson successful for almost 60 years, and I look forward to carrying that legacy forward.”
